Head of Fundraising

Job purpose

To develop City Gateway’s Fundraising Strategy and income in collaboration with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Fundraising Manager (Statutory & Grants). With a specific focus to secure and develop funding from new and existing Corporate Partners and Individuals to achieve ambitious targets. To create an exceptional partnership experience through skilled account management and customer experience leading to sustainable income, volunteering and resources for our charity.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for total fundraising at City Gateway including Grants, Foundations and Statutory. City Gateway is a £1.8m organisation with an annual fundraising target of £500k.
  • A duty to attend Board meetings and report fundraising performance to the Board.
  • Generate new and multi year fundraising income and grants from Corporate Partners against ambitious targets set by the CEO. Be willing to undertake research on, network and build relationships with prospective partners and convert the publicity from our new 2 year media partnership into tangible outcomes.
  • Work closely with the wider Employer Engagement Team to ensure collaborative approaches in applications to new and existing corporate partners and seek crossover opportunities for City Gateway such as Pro Bono support, Apprenticeship opportunities or volunteering.
  • Work with the CEO to ensure their time is used strategically with partners and support the Fundraising Advisory Board members in their work to engage new prospects.
  • Align and operate the Corporate Fundraising strategy to maximise income and meet the needs of the wider organization KPIs.
  • Secure and develop new Charity of the Year Partnerships.
  • Lead on developing corporate giving products and events to engage and maintain partnerships.
  • Lead on developing the individual giving and volunteer experience, to deliver a step-change in income from this channel, including producing materials and the website giving platform in partnership with the Marketing & Outreach Team.
  • Support and develop the Fundraising Manager (Grants, Foundations and Statutory) to review data to increase conversion rates and write bids or reports at key points in the year, working collaboratively to develop and allocate the fundraising pipeline of applications together.
  • Work with the Employer Engagement and Coaching Team to agree on volunteering opportunities for our partners that serve the organisation’s needs and build stronger relationships with the partners.
  • Build strong relationships with the wider organisation and develop deep knowledge of the Youth Programme delivery, in order to effectively communicate their stories and impact to partners.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and detailed records of your activity on the shared database and at all times uphold our standards for customer service to partners including delivering reports, grant tracking and feedback to partners to maintain and bank secured income.
  • Prepare regular data-driven reports on progress against target and key opportunities or partner activity to the SLT, CEO and Board of Trustees.
