As you will no doubt have seen in the media, the Government have made the difficult decision to close education establishments in a bid to bring the new variant of Covid-19 under control.
/ how does this affect my course?
As such, both our sites at The Pavilion and Stepney Life Centre are now closed to learners and visitors. However, all our courses will move online from Monday 11th January to continue to support all the women and young people we work alongside to ensure they can continue with their learning.
If you are a current learner or are due to start with us this January, our team of tutors and coaches will be in touch, if they haven’t already, with your timetable and details of how to access your course and classes online.
We are also continuing our remote work experience placements online. We trialled remote work experience placements at the end of last year, where our learners worked alongside employer partners including IBM and Helen New. Following this hugely successful pilot we will continue to deliver these placements online, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and skills that will support you as you progress into employment or an apprenticeship.
If you are an apprentice, we will continue to lead you through your training remotely and will be in touch with you directly to arrange this.
/ your well-being
We know and appreciate that lockdown is really challenging and the thought of continuing or beginning a course remotely can be quite daunting but we want to reassure you that we are here for you and will do all we can to support you. You will all be allocated a coach, if you haven’t already, who will be in regular contact with you to provide additional support for you.
We also want to make sure you are staying safe while learning online. Please take a look at this guidance for keeping yourself safe online. If at any point you have any concerns about your safety or well-being then please do speak to your coach, tutor or member of our safeguarding team.
/ i’d like to start a course
With both our traineeship courses and work experience placements continuing online, we are delighted to still be recruiting young people to join us in February. We will of course follow all Government advice around opening safely if we are able to do so, or will continue to deliver our courses online if that is the guidance. Therefore if you or anyone you know is looking for support to gain their maths and English qualifications or are looking to get into Employment or an apprenticeship, then please do apply with us today.
/ i’m an employer and want to support
If you are an employer interested in providing remote work experience placements or apprenticeships for our students please contact partnerships@citygateway.org.uk – we would be delighted to talk about the various ways you can get involved.
