City Gateway is committed to transforming the lives of young people most impacted by social and economic inequality, to give them the skills, experience and qualifications they need to achieve their ambitions. Every year we help hundreds of young people take the first step on their career ladder and shape their future for years to come.

However, we can’t achieve our goals without all the help and support from our employer partners and donors. Our employer partners are central to our success and the success of the young people we work with. For example, our nearly decade-long partnership with Impetus has made a huge impact on the young people who enrol on our programmes each year.

How can employer partners make a difference to young lives?

You can contribute to City Gateway in numerous ways.

Donate to our cause

Needless to say, the easiest and the most common way to support a charity like us is by making a financial donation. No sum is too small and every £ goes towards supporting young people through our Route to Employment course. Any financial contributions made to City Gateway goes directly towards our young people ensuring they have the one-to-one coaching support that is essential in helping them to develop the skills they need, with the support they require. As a charity, our work depends on the donations received from our partners.

£5,000 can support 110 learners to receive comprehensive one-to-one coaching giving them the confidence, resilience and self-awareness they need to begin their careers.

As an employer partner, you can contribute your product or services to support our young people. You can help us by providing hands-on support and volunteering with us. Employer engagement, such as volunteering time and resources to achieve specific needs within coaching and delivery, can make a huge difference to young people.

‘Last week we had the pleasure of witnessing young people from City Gateway pitch to a panel of Clayton Dubilier & Rice judges as part of a Dragon’s Den workshop. On the day, two teams of young people were supported by business advisors from CD&R as they were tasked with repurposing everyday objects to create a new product, before being challenged to develop a pitch for the product.’
Impetus, Backing The Best

Partners can also provide pro bono support to develop materials in support of various parts of the business. For example, one of our employer partners, CD&R generously supported us with filming and producing a video that helped us share who we are and our story with our funders, learners and other partners.Staff development is another area where we can benefit from our employer partners. For example, our CEO, Diane Betts is part of a CEO forum run by Impetus and members of SLT benefit from peer-to-peer support to develop and improve our delivery. The Impetus Leadership Academy has been a fantastic resource for our leadership team including the fundraising team who have been able to share ideas on how to further develop our fundraising strategy.
