Coach

Job purpose

Provide end-to-end structured support and guidance to learners through targeted and tailored coaching interventions for the duration of the learner journey, supporting them to progress into a sustained outcome in Further Education, Employment or Training (EET).

Coaching is currently a significant USP for City Gateway and plays a critical role in the success of our learners.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct meaningful initial assessments with prospective learners to establish intended career pathways and identify suitable programmes of study, whilst exploring any barriers that may impact their potential.
  • Develop quick and effective relationships with learners, from commencement of their time at City Gateway, that develops their behaviours and attitudes which shall support them for the future.
  • To support, promote and implement initiatives involving external partners and organisations which adds value to the learner experience, increasing their potential to progress.
  • Carry out the functions that reflect the principles and expectations from the relevant sections of the Education Inspection Framework.
  • Manage a case load of learners, acting as single point of contact to enable them to remain in learning, addressing barriers and where necessary signposting and/or engaging external support from appropriate stakeholders.
  • Responsible for learners who fail to attend, following the processes for re-engagement techniques and working with colleagues to make contact and re-engage learners.
  • Support learners to gain a full understanding when job or placement opportunities are available, including understanding the job description, interview criteria, location of interview and interview preparation, hints and tips.
  • Maintain and complete records of interventions and activities with learners, uploading to relevant databases to be able to demonstrate impact and to satisfy any contractual requirements.
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Leads with completion of behaviour support plans and gathering learner performance required for multi-agency/professionals meetings.
  • Support with the capture of metrics that enables City Gateway to demonstrate its impact and that can be used to feedback to funders and investors.
