After four years of leadership, David Wesson has now stepped down as CEO of City Gateway. It’s not a goodbye though, as he will continue to guide and shape City Gateway as a member of our Board of Trustees.

We want to thank him for his incredible devotion to his team, and his commitment and passion for helping the young people and women we serve. David accomplished so much in his time and leaves us with a robust plan for the coming years, with an exciting vision and a brilliant team to deliver it.

We are pleased to announce that Diane Betts has been appointed as our new CEO.

Originally an accountant, Diane has over 25 years’ leadership experience in not-for-profit organisations that provide specialised social support. She is an ambassador and an advocate for enabling social mobility and equal access – helping spearhead organisational and policy change and leading much-needed debate.

For 13 years, Diane led a high-quality independent training provider where disadvantaged young people were central to all that the organisation does. Working closely with the board of trustees, she developed the organisation’s long-term strategy, budget and business plans, ensuring compliance with the law and relevant regulations whilst delivering a unique end-to-end support programme.

Her vision is to bring that energy and experience to support City Gateway in the next part of our journey. Diane has great enthusiasm for new ideas and developing services for young people and brings with her a solid track record, along with an excellent reputation within the
sector.

She aims to lead with integrity, engendering trust in her staff and learners. Part of her success lies within her ability to listen and to seek to support people as they discover their worth and value, for themselves and in their communities.

Diane sees the ethos, vision and mission of City Gateway as being directly aligned with her sense of purpose for her life in Christian leadership, which is for young people and women to reach their full potential, no matter the place they start.
