Apprenticeship Assessor Coach (EarlyYears/Childcare) – to start early September 2022

Job purpose

City Gateway is looking to significantly grow and expand the delivery of its apprenticeship programmes following the recent successful partnerships with established local and brand-named employers. So, we’re seeking an experienced Early Years/Childcare Coach who is motivational, engaging and inspiring, demonstrates exceptional customer service and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

You will deliver Apprenticeship Standards through a hybrid model of both in the classroom and on-line to apprenticeship learners ensuring apprenticeship delivery is at an excellent standard in line with the prescribed routines set by the awarding organisation with quality procedures.

You will also ensure all processes and procedures are in place in preparation for any Ofsted, ESFA, employer, awarding body inspection and internal audit.

Duties and responsibilities

Overall responsibilities

  • To take full responsibility for a full caseload of apprentices (up to 40) on Early Years/Childcare programmes to ensure they complete in a timely way and to ensure our employer expectations are met.
  • To put together a comprehensive Initial Assessment and Induction programme for all apprentices including the involvement of their employer which leads to the production of a comprehensive Individual Learning Plan which has clear goals, objectives and timescales.
  • To develop online and blended learning materials.
  • Carry out regular reviews with Learners.
  • Always fully comply with City Gateway policies and procedures.
  • Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder’s experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the organisation.

Recording and Reporting

  • Monitor and maintain appropriate paperwork and Smart Assessor records of progress and to report all cases of apprentice learner sickness and absence.
  • Maintain comprehensive apprentice teaching, learning and assessment records and submitting a range of evidence to the Internal Verifier on a regular basis for sampling.
  • To support apprentices to record and recognise ‘off the job’ training.
  • To regularly report to the Apprenticeship Lead on the progress of apprentices.
  • To be confident that all apprentice files (held on Smart Assessor) and that their ‘off the job’ learning are compliant with the relevant bodies such as Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), Ofsted, awarding body and EPA requirements.
  • To provide information, advice and guidance and identify sources of support for any safeguarding, health and wellbeing issues identified.

General

  • Build an effective rapport with apprentices and employers so that you can tackle any underperformance to ensure apprentices get back on track with their learning.
  • To ensure that all employers are able to offer sufficient opportunities for apprentices to develop their skills and demonstrate their competency in all areas.
  • To deal professionally with colleagues and external partners as required.
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of all City Gateway’s documentation and information.
  • To attend training/refresher courses and meetings as required by the Apprenticeship Lead.
  • Seek to improve own performance, contribution, knowledge, skills and participate in training and developmental activities as required.

Learner Outcomes

  • Ensure apprentices have a robust learning plan from the start of their apprenticeship, regularly reviewing, giving advice and guidance plus any additional support identified tailoring to their individual needs to enable them to meet their aspirational objectives.
  • Meet timely achievement and overall success rates which are above the National Benchmark as set by the organisation.
  • Ensure all apprentices are aware of the Additional Support available to them to help them carry out their programme of learning and informing the Apprenticeship Lead of any concerns or learners ‘at risk’ quickly by implementing a plan of action to ensure their timely achievement.
  • Carry out regular formal reviews with apprentices together with their Line Manager to track their progress and follow up on any outstanding actions including regular monitoring of their safety and wellbeing, including any Safeguarding concerns.

Data Management Information

  • Using Smart Assessor ensure a portfolio of work for each Apprentice is uploaded in a timely manner as well as using the Apprenticeship EPA system to upload learner work for the Independent Assessor as well as booking dates, end point assessments for each apprentice in a timely manner.
  • Report to the Apprenticeship Lead progress of apprentices setting out how and when apprentices will successfully achieve their programme.

Safeguarding/Pastoral Care Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote the safeguarding, welfare and safety of all learners at all times.
  • Adhere to the organisation’s pastoral, welfare and safeguarding policies and procedure.
  • Communicate news and concerns about learners to the relevant designated safeguarding lead using the City Gateway Cpoms reporting system.
  • Maintain notes regarding learner concerns and incidents.

Other – Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of any person who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
  • Act in accordance with City Gateway Health and Safety policies and procedures, carrying out any work in accordance with any training, using any equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, informing your Line Manager of any health and safety problems and immediately stopping any unsafe activity until adequate measures have been taken to remove the risk or reduce it to as low as possible.
