Summer Program
Each Summer City Gateway puts on an series of community events called the Summer Program.
The Summer school holidays have always been a focus for our youth engagement team. This year saw our largest ever summer programme which ran for 7 weeks, with events in the hearts of estates right across 8 different parts of the Borough.
The launch of our Limehouse Youth Centre provided us with a base to put on evening events which regularly attracted as many as 100 young people, with even more coming to a range of special events organised jointly with the young people themselves.
The project removed young people from the streets and put us in a relational position where we were able to challenge some of their existing behaviours and also to encourage young people to mix with groups they might otherwise avoid.
