Work

Progression into work
The final stage of the progression route is work, in which women undertake a work placement in their chosen area of work. They receive employability support in areas such as CV-writing, interview practice, and searching and applying for jobs. Those who began an apprenticeship in the train stage will complete this in the work stage, where they are encouraged to apply the skills they have learnt from the training course in a work environment. This stage aims to equip women with vital employment skills, to enable them to gain meaningful employment and sustain it over the long-term.

We run an Apprenticeship Programme; which incorporates Functional and Vocational skills training with paid employment placements. Our current apprenticeships are in IT, Customer Services, Catering & Hospitality, Beauty and Childcare.

Leadership Academy

All learners who are ready for work are encouraged to attend leadership academy where top speakers and facilitators take learners through subjects such as teamwork, dealing with frustration, managing time, planning, negotiation and persuasion. Learners from the academy are encouraged and trained to become mentors for new women at connect. We encourage learners to participate with the decision making at CGWP, and many of the courses and activities are pulled together as a response to learners needs and feedback.
