Cafe Relax is a community cafe in Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets. The cafe is part of Flavour Gateway, a catering social enterprise set up by the Enterprise Hub of local regeneration charity City Gateway, working closely with the organisation’s service users. Cafe Relax is located at Weavers field in Bethnal Green. Flavour Gateway was primarily established in order to provide training and work experience for local unemployed residents. All Flavour Gateway Trainees spend time working in Cafe Relax serving customers. This enables them to develop ‘front of house’ and customer service skills, whilst also providing vital confidence building opportunities.
In addition, Cafe Relax importantly has a vision of providing a welcoming community space for local residents and centre users, and of promoting healthy and sustainable eating through its healthy menus and outreach activities.
We aim to:
- Provide access to healthy, affordable food for local residents
- Facilitate social interactions within the diverse local community, including cross-cultural and intergenerational interactions
- Educate our customers about healthy and sustainable eating
- Provide Catering skills for local residents in Tower Hamlets who are currently economically inactive
We are open Monday to Friday 10.00am to 4.00pm.
