Progression

Progression is really at the the heart of City Gateway - Progressing NEET young people, who are not doing anything with their lives, by getting them accredited qualifications and Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) which helps them to reach their full potential. We try and get all the young people we work with into either further education or employment and remain in contact with them for months after their formal involvement with us ends.

250+
Individual young people engaged & given IAG in 2007

We offer accredited courses in employability and literacy that help young people build the foundations they need to become economically active and engaged in the local community. The courses include CV writing workshops, advice on job searching and interview practice. This year we were also able to launch, for the first time, similar courses for women of all ages at our community centre in Poplar.

We offer all the trainees on our Export courses over 20 days work experience with one of our enterprises and have arranged over two dozen work placements at external organisations for them to progress on to. There is also the opportunity for everyone on our courses to go on one day ‘insight tours’ of our corporate partners’ offices and to be advised directly by the HR team there - a unique, and eye opening experience for everyone involved.
