This week sees the launch of a new video in which Hollywood star Sir Ian McKellen showed support for local business by lending his voice to be used on a promotional video forour social enterprise Gateway Media .

Sir Ian, famed for roles as Magneto in X Men and Gandalf in Lord of the rings, was pleased to put his voice to good use. “He was a real star, his support has meant we can reach a wider audience and continue our growth as a new media social enterprise” said Gateway Media’s manager Simon Baker. The promotional video was premiered at Canary Wharf’s East Wintergarden venue during charity City Gateway’s 10 year celebration event earlier this month.

Sir Ian has commented:  "Newcomers, businesses and yuppies have a duty to pay back local people who live here - I don't do as much as I could...  Every young person deserves the right to develop to their full potential and I think neighbours like me have a responsibility to show an interest."

"There's a terrific need for people to feel they belong as there are disparate groups in the borough. You have the very rich and poor, high achievers and school leavers and bringing them together is key."
