It’s been an exciting time at City Gateway HQ; we’ve just moved to Ensign Street in Poplar, E1 8ND. We are enjoying getting to know our new neighbours and are settling in nicely. Our new office view features; two railway lines, several trees and the Gherkin all of which remind us of how positive movement and change can be.

During the move we were able assisted by some friends that we would like to take the opportunity to thank. Rothschild, gave us some lovely office furniture, and Lloyds Bank visited us to help make our building more homely; thank you for putting colour on our walls! By all accounts the Lloyds visit was a good one, ‘Everyone has said, how much they have enjoyed the day’. Lloyds also said that they enjoyed being a part of something so ‘worthwhile and needed’, as City Gateway. We were particularly grateful for the help at this time of expansion. Thanks to the change of premises we are reaching more young people and women than ever before; we are able to host more trainees through our courses and apprenticeship schemes than ever before. At City Gateway the expansion has heralded the arrival of new staff and new initiatives. Here at Ensign Court we’re developing a café facility for the City Gateway community; not only does this provide more opportunities for young people to work but also ensures that they (and the staff!) don’t go hungry. The café offers a wide range of drinks and snacks; our chocolate brownies already enjoy a substantial following (buy yours from Flavour Gateway). Over the following weeks and months we will be adding to the café with more initiatives also aimed at transforming our communities and getting more trainees into work.

This new building is brimming with potential that we can’t wait to harness! We’re transforming one space into a lounge area for the young people; but we are still looking for furniture?
