The Environment

In a year when environmental issues have grabbed headlines more than ever before we haven’t ignored our responsibility to look after the resources around us.

As an organisation we have undertaken a complete external review of our environmental impact. We have renewed our commitment to using recycled materials where possible as well as recycling our own when we are finished with them.

Greenscreen, our IT social enterprise, has not only had a name change (from Quack IT) but has increased its focus on recycling unwanted computer equipment and putting them back into service in the community. Not only does this help the environment, and comply with the Government’s new WEEE recycling directive, it also gives computer access to many people who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

The Enterprise links into the rest of our training programmes here at City Gateway and offers work based learning opportunities to those on our more advanced IT training schemes. Trainees who have started out cataloguing computer parts with us have now subsequently gone on to have long term work placements and even full time jobs in major corporate IT departments in London.
